When the 2023 HR Focus Awards panel convened to evaluate leadership quality within Ghana's oil and gas sector, they unanimously selected Tullow Ghana as the best organization in HR Management.

The recognition is testament to a relentless focus by Tullow's leadership to empower and transform its workplace culture and employee relations in every aspect of its operations. The award also highlights the strides made by Tullow to push an agenda of inclusivity amongst its employees and stakeholders, as it optimises Ghana's oil and gas resources.

The commercial discovery of oil in 2007, threw a spotlight on the need to develop the country's talent as part of operations in the industry. Successive governments gave the mandate to operating companies to make people management and local participation a strategic focus.

As the main operator of Ghana's major fields - Jubilee and TEN - Tullow has always carried the responsibility of providing leadership in this aspect. Today, the organisation's hard work is paying off - more than 72% of its workforce are Ghanaians, with a 90% target in the next five years.

The company's human resource unit operates to make Tullow the best place to work within the industry.

"As a leading operator in Ghana's evolving oil and gas sector, our people are our greatest asset, and we continue to adopt creative and innovative ways to ensure they are empowered to be world class. We are thrilled to be recognised by the organisers of the HR Focus Awards - it means we cannot rest on our laurels. It is also an added incentive for us to constantly lead by example, while pushing the boundaries of HR Management in the oil and gas sector. Great appreciation also goes to the HR team for their hard work and dedication." - Kwame Ofori Afreh, HR Manager, Tullow Ghana
