As part of our commitment to building a better future for our host nations through responsible oil and gas development, we joined the 2024 International Association of Drilling Contractors Drilling Africa Conference in Namibia.
The conference provided a valuable opportunity to showcase our activities in Africa and further highlight our commitment to socio-economic development and capacity building opportunities for local communities.
Secondly, we demonstrated our progress towards our Net Zero 2023 targets. The primary focus is on our operated production facilities in Ghana, where we have the greatest ability to influence our emissions and reduce negative impacts on the planet.
Additionally, the event was a timely opportunity to meet like-minded operators and contractors and explore innovative solutions, discuss and share best practices and highlight lessons learned to date.
Anthony Clark, Group and Ghana Well Engineering Manager and Kevin Burke, our Completion and Testing Manager, participated in sessions at the event.
Anthony presented on the need to develop a high-performing Ghanaian-centred team which can run world-class deep-water drilling and completion operations, while leaving a genuine and enduring legacy.
Kevin participated in two panel sessions – “Sustainable Horizons: Navigating the Path to Carbon Emissions Reduction” and “Africa and the Energy Transition: Balancing Energy Security, Development, and Decarbonisation”. He and the panellists emphasised the need to explore innovative solutions, inspire collective action towards a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future.
