Matthew joined Tullow in 1987 as General Manager in Senegal and was appointed to the Board in 1998. During his career, spanning over 35 years in the oil and gas business, he has held a number of senior management positions both in Tullow and with Schlumberger Wireline working in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

In recent years, as General Manager Projects, Matthew has successfully managed Tullow's Contracts and Procurement function and guided a number of Tullow's developments from sanction through to first production. These projects included the Group’s first offshore operated development, Horne and Wren in the UK Southern North Sea, and most recently, gas developments in Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Matthew will however maintain close links with Tullow in retirement and the Group will continue to benefit from his experience and expertise through a consultancy agreement.

Commenting today, Aidan Heavey, Chief Executive of Tullow said:

"Matt has given outstanding service to Tullow for over 21 years. He has been a central figure in Tullow’s growth since the first project in Senegal through to the major development we are now commencing on the Jubilee field in Ghana. I would like to personally thank him for the incredible commitment and dedication he has shown during each of his roles in Tullow and for the major contribution he has made to the success of the company. We all wish him well in retirement."
