Jubilee and TEN: High value, core assets

Recent activity

The foundation for growth has been set with the extension of Tullow’s West Cape Three Points and Deep Water Tano Petroleum Agreements, which cover the Jubilee and TEN fields, to 31 December 2040.

Tullow has also secured revised terms for the supply of gas from the Jubilee field to the end of the extended period at an escalating price of $2.50/mmbtu. Furthermore, a gas payment security mechanism and heads of terms for the potential supply of gas from the TEN fields has been agreed with the Government of Ghana.

Six wells are expected onstream in 2026 (five producers and one water injector), two of which are already onstream (J74-P and J75-P). The next three producers are expected to come onstream in June and July, with the water injector due onstream September.

Leveraging seismic expertise

Tullow’s 2025 seismic surveys offshore Ghana mark a major milestone, applying state-of-the-art Ocean Bottom Node (OBN) technology to deliver superior imaging and reservoir insight. Across data processing, model building, and interpretation, Tullow continues to apply industry-leading techniques such as Full Waveform Inversion (FWI) and 4D Quantitative Interpretation (QI), to deliver informed development decisions and realise value for Ghana and our joint venture partners.

Leader in African deepwater drilling

Tullow to date has drilled over 70 deepwater development wells on Jubilee and TEN. After drilling 24 development wells in Ghana over the last five years, Tullow sees potential for up to 20 further infill wells to be drilled on the Jubilee field, and the potential for both gas development and infill oil drilling on TEN. Significant near-field exploration opportunities are also under evaluation.

The majority of wells utilise ‘smart’ hydraulic inflow control technology to allow for optimized reservoir management through zonal control. The acquired experience and success in well design, drilling and installing these completion systems, has endowed Tullow with a unique capability, for efficiently developing deepwater fields in the region.

A history of responsible deepwater exploration and development

Tullow and its Joint Venture (JV) Partners drilled two successful exploration wells in 2007, discovering the Jubilee oil field in the Gulf of Guinea’s Tano Basin.

In October 2008, Tullow was appointed as the Jubilee field Operator, and working with the JV and Government of Ghana, on developing the field. In November 2010, following a successful development programme, which included the building of a Floating Production Offtake and Storage (FPSO) vessel, first oil was achieved, only 40 months after the first discovery well, bringing Ghana its first major oil production.

Discovered in 2009, with follow up appraisal wells through to 2011, Tullow’s second major discovery were the TEN fields, namely Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme. The plan of development was approved by the Government of Ghana in 2013, with first oil achieved just three years later in August 2016.

In March 2022, Tullow completed the pre-emption related to the sale of Occidental Petroleum's interests in the Jubilee and TEN fields in Ghana to Kosmos Energy for a total consideration of $126 million. The transaction took Tullow's equity interests to 38.98% in the Jubilee field and to 54.84% in the TEN fields.

Participating interests1 Jubilee TEN
Tullow (Operator) 38.98% 54.84%
Kosmos 38.61% 20.38%
GNPC 19.69% 20.95%
PetroSA 2.72% 3.82%

1. From 20 July 2036 until 31 December 2040, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation’s (GNPC) share in the field will increase by a further 10% interest and the joint venture partners’ shares will decrease pro rata.
