Congo (DRC) Operations and Licences
Operations
In July 2006 Tullow signed a production Sharing Agreement to gain a 48.5% operated interest in Blocks I and II in the prospective Albertine Rift Basin. While the validity of the award of these licences has been disputed by the Congolese Oil Ministry, Tullow is now working closely with the new government officials and continues to be confident in the integrity of the original award process and its title to the licence.
Blocks I and II cover some 6,500 sq km onshore and offshore the Congo (DRC) part of the Albertine Rift Basin which extends into neighbouring Uganda. The work programme for the first 5-year period includes a number of technical studies, 800 km of 2D seismic and 4 wells.
