Improving the learning environment in local schools in Bangladesh

Tullow
Bangladesh spent approximately US$24,000 on educational
development projects during 2006 with the objective of
improving the learning environment in local schools in the
vicinity of operational sites. Construction work included
building a new library for Ojifa Khatun High School and
washrooms for Bangora Umalochan High School. All the pupils
from two local primary schools received book-bags containing a
t-shirt, a pair of flip-flops and school stationery, as well
as an educational booklet with text in Bengali and English,
describing basic aspects of health and hygiene, safety, good
manners, and care for people and the environment. In addition,
donations of books, science and sports equipment, desks,
furniture and computers were also made to all four schools.
This programme is being expanded in 2007.
