BitC ’Big Tick’ environment awardA £1 million investment was undertaken at the Bacton Gas Terminal, which significantly improved the environmental performance of this operation including a 55% reduction in Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions. In recognition of this achievement, Tullow received a ‘Big Tick’ award in the International Climate Change Category of the BitC Awards for Excellence. This demonstrates that such projects can significantly reduce environmental impacts, while making sound business sense. This award is a welcome external recognition of our commitment to improving our environmental performance, and full details of this project are available here. |

RoSPA ‘Gold Award’RoSPA is a registered charity established over 80 years ago to promote safety and the prevention of accidents. The charity recognises outstanding health and safety performance through an annual awards programme. In 2007, Tullow received a RoSPA ‘Gold Award’ for occupational health and safety management, based on results for the period 2002 to 2006. Tullow is delighted with this recognition, which is a reflection of the level of organisational and management support given to reviewing and championing health and safety initiatives and policies throughout the Group. Whether it be an office, gas terminal, offshore installation or drilling rig, this level of commitment ensures that health and safety is an integral part of our daily activities. |

BitC Environment Index ‘Bronze Award’The Environment Index assesses the extent to which an organisation integrates environmental responsibility into their business functions. It is an annual assessment of environmental performance that benchmarks companies against both their sector peers and all other companies that participate in the Index. It measures companies on the integration of environmental issues into their core business and on environmental management issues. Participating companies are also assessed on their assurance processes and their commitment to disclose their Index submission. The Environment Index Executive Summary and Report are used by a myriad of organisations, ranging from investors and the media to Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) and academia. In 2006, Tullow participated for the first time in the 11th Environment Index and received a ‘Bronze Award’ for its environmental management and performance. This represents a score of just over 70% and is a good performance relative to the sector and the index. The individual company report we received on Tullow’s performance has also given us some great feedback and ideas on how we can improve our performance further. |
