The East Africa Business Delivery Team is responsible for realising value from the significant oil discoveries made in Uganda and Kenya to date. The team is also focused on continued exploration activity across the Group’s extensive acreage position in Kenya.
The East Africa region is a core growth area for Tullow. In Uganda, discovered contingent resources are estimated to be around 1.7 billion barrels of oil. In Kenya, our current mean gross resource estimate is 750 mmbo, with further exploration potential supporting an upside of 1 billion barrels.
In April 2016, clarity over the development of these discoveries was gained, with the Governments of Kenya and Uganda deciding to independently develop their resources, rather than export oil through a joint regional pipeline. Following this decision, Tullow continues to work with both Governments on moving these exciting projects towards development.
